Services

TJ Equine offers mare reproductive management services and boarding for horses under the care of Entirely Equine (EE). The veterinarian is available at TJ Equine on most business days and does not charge a ranch call fee when mares are seen at our facility. Per Cycle veterinary fees and monthly intensive acupuncture packages are available, please visit www.entirelyequinevet.com for additional information on veterinary pricing.

Assisting the veterinarian with acupuncture and/or bodywork and breeding cycle management is included in the daily board at TJ Equine. For breeding this includes teasing, handling for the veterinarian, arranging semen shipments with stallion owners, return of semen shippers (additional fees), turn-out weather permitting, fly masks on/off and grooming (brushing and picking out feet, occasional hosing off if hot). For acupuncture this includes all of the above services with the exception of breeding care.

Horses under our care are required to be up to date on vaccines, deworming and trimming/shoeing. Clients will be provided with a care schedule requirement prior to entrance into our facility. We will arrange with our veterinarian to provide required vaccines and regular deworming while your horse is under our care. We will also arrange for regular farrier care for your horse while they are at our facility. All above services will be billed independently.

Breeding cycle management - After having a full veterinary breeding soundness exam, the most important first step to breeding your mare is the daily management of her reproductive cycle. Each mare needs to be monitored for signs of standing heat, accomplished by daily teasing, followed by close veterinary monitoring of daily uterine and ovarian changes leading up to ovulation. This daily management provides the best chance for inseminating your mare as close to ovulation as possible and decreases the number of inseminations needed per heat cycle. Each mare bred in our care is regularly checked for post-breeding fluid accumulation and treated accordingly. This treatment, as directed by our veterinarian, may include additional teasing and turn-out in addition to veterinary care. In a reproductively normal mare this type of management protocol provides excellent chances for pregnancy.

Artificial Insemination - As directed by our veterinarian, we will provide insemination services outside of normal veterinary hours. We apply the same hygienic and insemination protocols as our veterinarian when inseminating your mare. If the veterinarian decides that medications need to be administered, we will provide that service at an additional charge.

Management of Subfertile Mares - Mares that are difficult to get pregnant require additional care during the breeding cycle. These mares generally require additional rectal and ultrasound examinations by the veterinarian, post-breeding exams, treatments and possibly medications.. Because we have a veterinarian available on most business days, we are able to accommodate these types of mares.

Additional services provided for a fee include: return of semen shippers, courier pick-up from Sacramento Intl airport, Saturday semen pick-up at Fed-Ex hub, frozen semen storage, blanketing, medication administration, specialized feeding, leg wrapping or bandage changes ( may be additional veterinary fees ), appointments with an equine dentist and shoeing appointments.

Please note that we do not provide traditional boarding at our facility. Horses will only be boarded at TJ Equine Inc for breeding cycle management, to receive acupuncture treatment or other medical care as directed by Entirely Equine Inc.. We have limited visiting hours and any horse handling, turn-out, longing or riding on the property is strictly prohibited.

All veterinary services are performed and billed by a CA licensed veterinarian
